Chapter Seventeen: Strategic Theories of War
Threats and the Use of Non-Conventional Weapons
- Apply the resurrection hypothesis to a threat made by a leader in state A to go to war to depose the leader in state B to prevent the leader of state B from using nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons in war. Does the threat of being deposed make the threatened leader more likely, less likely, or equally likely to use unconventional weapons in war? Explain your answer in terms of the resurrection hypothesis or the logic of the IIG.
